Catholic Crematory?

"This is what's happening today. This is the reality. It is the wave of the future," said Bishop Paul Bootkoski of the Metuchen Diocese, which has 600,000 Catholics in Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex and Warren counties. "We're going along with what our Catholic population is looking for." (source)

Is this chap a Roman Catholic bishop or the next Product Manager for the iPod? What the population is looking for doesn't have an iota to do with things.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine, who is not a Catholic, but a non-denominational Christian. He advised that his family was leaning in the direction of cremation. I was surprised and asked him about the resurrection to come. As is his wont on issues related to religion, he shot back, "Are you putting limits on God's power? He's all powerful, do whether you are dust or in a casket, he can bring you back."

Apparently, despite his dedication to the Good Book, he missed this bit of a conversation between Our Lord and the devil from Matthew 6-7:

"6 And said to him: If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written: That he hath given his angels charge over thee, and in their hands shall they bear thee up, lest perhaps thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said to him: It is written again: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. "

The fact a prelate would so openly embrace this option speaks volumes on the status of the current episcopacy.
